Sheet S · Studio · Fractional product & AI

The companies pulling ahead aren’t buying more software. They’re building their own.

Your competitors are quietly replacing rented software with systems they own and AI that does real work. We help small and mid-sized businesses find the systems worth owning, cut the tools they don’t need, and put AI where it actually moves the number.

It’s never been faster to build exactly what your business needs.

It starts with The OS Blueprint, a free 1-day workshop to find your biggest opportunities. No commitment.

5 of 7 OS Blueprint spots left through the end of 2026.

§ Sound familiar? Common pain points

If any of these hurt, there’s no excuse anymore.

01 Integration

Systems that don’t talk to each other?

We build the middleware between them, or replace the tangle with something you own.

02 Reporting

Can’t get reporting right?

Dashboards that answer the questions you actually ask on Monday morning, from data you already have.

03 Automation

Still doing it by hand?

Automate the repetitive work and get hours back every week. AI where it helps, plain code where that’s enough.

04 CRM

CRM feels clunky?

Fix the pipeline your team actually uses, and finally measure the things that move the number.

05 Website

Website feeling dated?

A fast, modern site you can update yourself, wired into your CRM so every lead lands where it should.

06 Revenue

Looking for new revenue?

It’s easier than ever to build revenue-generating add-ons on tech you control.

07 AI

Tried AI and it didn’t stick?

Most pilots fail on fit, not technology. We start with how your business runs, not with a tool.

08 Something else

Not on the list?

If it slows your team down, it’s on the table. Tell us about it.

§ Whiteboard to outcome Where the workshops led

Workshops that led to million-dollar outcomes.

Almost everything I’ve shipped started the same way: the right people, a whiteboard and a day or two. Here’s where a few of those rooms led.

  1. Rentvine's CEO talking with his hands at a workshop table, with walls of sticky notes behind him
    The workshop
Rentvine named #60 on the Inc. 5000
    The outcome

01 Rentvine · Property management software

From a first workshop to running the roadmap

I ran Rentvine’s first product workshop while I was still at Slalom. By the end, they asked me to come on full time to own the roadmap and the product experience. That led to PE investment and three straight years of hitting our annual growth targets.

    4,682% three-year revenue growth · Inc. 5000 #60

  2. Eastman leaders reviewing a sticky-note value proposition board during the Core workshop
    The workshop
A packed crowd at the Eastman booth for the Core launch at the SEMA show
    The outcome

    02 Eastman · Core

From film installers’ pain points to a patented product

Software that turns a pattern-maker’s car-part library into plotter cut files, with nesting that cuts film waste. The workshop won executive backing for a six-week discovery with installers in the field, and that discovery became Core.

    $30M first-year revenue · 2 design patents

  3. A hand-drawn ecosystem map of plants, labs, samples, pumps, heaters and OEMs around heat transfer fluid
    The workshop
Fluid Genius logo over a blue fluid wave
    The outcome

    03 Eastman · Fluid Genius

From lab reports to an award-winning digital product

Turned slow back-and-forth with the lab into fluid-health results plant operators can act on. It started with another six-week discovery, this time with customers in Germany. By then we were writing Eastman’s digital product playbook and taking it to every business unit.

    13 awards, including CIO 100

  4. FIG. 07 — SMALL START, COMPOUNDING TRUST DISCOVERY FIELD-OPS TABLET P1 P2 P3 P4 $11–12M 2 YEARS · MULTI-PROGRAM ACCOUNT
    The workshop → the outcome

    04 Enterprise · Field operations

From a small discovery to a multi-program account

A lean workshop and discovery for a field-operations tablet experience landed our first team to redesign the primary field-ops experience. It reset the relationship and opened the door to more work.

    $11–12M multi-program account

§ Mindset Rationalize, then innovate

Keep, merge, connect, cut. Then own what matters.

The SaaS-pocalypse is here. There’s no longer an excuse for disjointed systems, redundant vendors or overpriced software.

LEAVE IT. 02MERGETWO TOOLS, ONE JOB 03CONNECTADD MIDDLEWARE 04CUTRETIRE THE VENDOR + OWN · YOUR COMPANY OS THE PIECES THAT ARE YOUR EDGE, ON TECH YOU CONTROL COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE

Rationalize

Every tool in your stack gets a verdict. Which ones earn their keep, which overlap, which just need to talk to each other, and which you’re paying for out of habit.

Innovate

In the age of AI, what can you own, and what should you? Some of your edge lives in workflows and data no off-the-shelf product will ever fit. That part is worth building.

Flexible tech

We build in and around the stack you already have. If you need something bigger, we’ll build your own company OS.

§ How it works Four steps, no big upfront bet

Start free. Prove it. Then decide together.

  1. The OS BlueprintFree · 1 day on-site

Our signature workshop, for qualifying companies, with no commitment. Your team does a little prep beforehand, so the day goes to decisions, not discovery. In one day, it surfaces your biggest pain points and the best opportunities for a company OS, and we bring a few thought-starter concepts to get ideas moving. Spots are limited, so we review every request. Free anywhere within driving distance of St. Louis; if it needs a flight, we’ll work it out on the call. See where these workshops have led ↑

  2. Opportunity mapPaid · fixed fee

We turn the workshop into a portfolio of bets, each with a business outcome target and a real timeline. It’s worth having even if you stop here. Together we pick the one hypothesis to prove first.

  3. Proof buildMilestone-based · on-site

We build a working version on-site, alongside your team, fast. Before we start, we agree on the engagement model, which decides who owns the IP.

  4. PartnerOngoing

After the first proof, choose how we keep going: fractional support, outcome-based pricing, or a scoped, larger initiative. For our best partners, we like revenue share. We grow when you grow.

§ Engagement models Pay for outcomes, not hours

Rent it or own it.

A Product modelRent it

We build it, run it and keep improving it.

You subscribe instead of paying for a build. We keep the IP and carry the upkeep, so you get the tool without owning the code.

B Consulting modelOwn it

We build it with your team, and it’s yours.

Milestone-based. You own the code and the IP, and your team knows how it works because they helped build it.

  • OUTCOMEPay per lead or result
  • MILESTONEPay as it ships
  • PROPTECHPer-door pricing
  • PARTNERSRevenue share

§ Industries Pick yours

Who we work with.

01 PropTech · Property management

Built by a former proptech CPO.

As CPO at Rentvine, I built the product org from zero and shipped the first MCP in SFR property management. We know owners, residents, maintenance and per-door economics.

  • Owner and resident experiences that set you apart from the PM down the street
  • Per-door add-ons that create new revenue
  • Maintenance, leasing and accounting automation
  • Connecting your property management software to the rest of your stack

Rentvine · Inc. 5000 #60 · 4,682% three-year growth

02 Franchise systems

One system, hundreds of locations.

We’ve worked with PMI and its network of 450 franchisees. We build things that work for one location and roll out to hundreds that each run a little differently.

  • Franchisee dashboards and benchmarks across locations
  • Onboarding and operations playbooks, automated
  • Tools franchisees actually adopt, not just tolerate
  • Franchisor reporting without chasing spreadsheets

PMI · 450 franchisees

03 Mid-market & enterprise

Enterprise discipline, small-team speed.

Experience from Slalom, Edward Jones, Mastercard, Enterprise, Eastman and Bayer, brought to companies that can’t afford a big-firm engagement or its timeline.

  • Rationalize overlapping vendors and cut software spend
  • Internal tools and dashboards for the work spreadsheets can’t keep up with
  • AI pilots that survive past the demo

$30M first-year revenue from Core · $30M annual savings at Edward Jones

04 Startups & portfolio companies

Zero to one, or one to ten.

Down to mix it up with early-stage teams and portfolio companies. Zero to one is where I started, and I helped Rentvine make the case for a $74M growth round.

  • Zero-to-one products, from first workshop to first customers
  • AI product audits for portfolio companies
  • Standing up a product team and roadmap tied to the growth number

$74M growth round · 2 design patents

§ Who’s “we” Senior lead, deep bench

You work with me. I bring the bench.

Jake on the Be Herd main stage in front of a slide reading A better AI AssistantIntro video · coming soon

I lead every engagement myself: 20 years across product, UX and design leadership, most recently as a Chief Product Officer who still ships code.

When a build needs more hands, I bring in a bench of engineers, designers and data people I’ve worked with, matched to your industry. You get senior attention without an agency’s overhead.

“We’ll wear your team jersey.”

I’ve said it to every team I’ve worked with, and I mean it. We co-design with your people, not around them: in the room, at the whiteboard, chasing the same number you are. The best engagements turn into partnerships where we find new ways to grow and build together. That’s why some of them end in a revenue share. We don’t just hand over deliverables. We actually give a damn about your business.

That’s also why spots are limited. I only take on as many companies as I can show up for in person.

§ FAQ Before you book

Questions we hear first.

What does this cost?

The OS Blueprint workshop is free for qualifying companies. The opportunity map is a fixed fee we agree on before any work starts. After that, you pick the model: milestone-based, outcome-based (like pay per lead), per door for property managers, or revenue share. You’ll always have a number before we start.

Who qualifies for a free OS Blueprint?

Small and mid-sized businesses with a real operational problem and a leader who can make decisions in the room. We review every request and confirm on the intro call. Spots are limited, so we’re upfront if it’s not a fit.

Is there prep work before the OS Blueprint?

A little. Before the session we’ll send a short form: the tools you pay for, the reports you rely on, and where your team loses the most time. It takes less than 30 minutes, and it means we spend the day on decisions instead of discovery.

Do we need our own tech team?

No. We bring the engineers, designers and data people. If you have a tech team, we build alongside them so they can own it after.

Will we have to replace the software we already use?

Usually not. Most of the time we build around what you have: keep what works, merge what overlaps, connect what doesn’t talk, and only cut what you’re paying for out of habit.

Who owns what you build?

Your choice, decided before the build starts. Own it, and the code and IP are yours. Rent it, and we run and improve it for a subscription.

How soon will we see something working?

The proof build is designed to get to a working version fast, on-site with your team. Most take 2–6 weeks.

Do you only work in St. Louis?

No. We’re based in St. Louis, and the OS Blueprint is free anywhere within driving distance. If it needs a flight, we’ll work it out on the call. Builds can be on-site, remote or both.

What’s a “company OS”?

The connected set of tools, data and automations your company runs on, shaped around how you work instead of how your vendors want you to work. For some companies that’s a few good integrations. For others it’s a custom platform they own.

§ In their words From people I’ve built with

Don’t take our word for it.

“We knew we needed Jake during the workshop. It was amazing how fast he understood our business.”

Jon Ewen · President, Rentvine

“Jake helped build our Digital Products playbook with his workshop approach.”

Kate Horan · Digital Strategy and Product Manager, Eastman
